Case Study: Successful Commercial Solar Panel Installation at Minerva Fabrics
Company Background:
Objective: Minerva Fabrics aimed to reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs by installing a reliable solar power system that would provide financial savings as well as generate export revenue from excess energy. At the same time rainwater was penetrating the roof and several roofers had attempted to make the roof water tight but without success. Our roofing partner diagnosed the solution: to remove the existing gutter system and then install a plygene seamless gutter which ran along the roof valley.
Project Overview:
- System Size: 84.7kW
- Type of System: Rooftop installation
- Number of Panels: 154
Conclusion: After addressing the existing roof issues, the new solar installation not only offers significant cost savings but also strengthens Minerva Fabric’s reputation as a leader in sustainable practices. Additionally, they are now successfully exporting excess energy back to the grid through an export guarantee.
One unique feature of the system was that a tablet was placed in reception to display the daily generation figures of the PV system so that staff were fully aware of their employer’s dedication to becoming a carbon neutral company.
Testimonial
Minerva’s E-commerce manager (Richard Herron) sent us an email six weeks after the installation stating,
“We got our first electricity bill through last week and its down over 50% which is fantastic!”
Furthermore, he has provided us with the following feedback:
“A fantastic company to deal with, very price competitive and flexible to our needs. Gavin, Darren and Duncan came to see us on several occasions to go through everything necessary for a solar installation and answered all the questions we had.
After we agreed the deal, the work started within a month and the installation of our 84.7kwh system took about a week. The aftercare has been first rate in helping us sign up to an export tariff and we are already seeing excellent savings on our electricity bills. I’d highly recommend Carbon Zero Energy for a solar installation.”
